HARD DRIVE DESTRUCTION AND DISPOSAL SERVICES

 YOUR DATA DESTROYED!

Even if you now rely on your own personnel to overwrite your computer data, can you really be 100% sure your data is destroyed?

These days you can not afford to take that risk!

We have made the process of disposing of your computer hard drive as safe and simple as possible.

DK Recycling is now employing Plasma Arc technology to ensure efficient and absolute hard drive destruction. This new procedure insures complete destruction of the internal hard drive disk platters via a plasma stream blast strategically placed over the hard drive’s internal disks.

This process allows us to handle a large amount of hard drives on a continuing basis, and return the base material (aluminum) into the recycling stream as efficiently as possible.

To take advantage of our hard drive disposal services simply ship your hard drives to us and include a contact name and address were we can send our Certificate of Destruction.

Your hard drives will only be handled by our Data Security Specialist and secured in a limited access area. Upon receipt of your hard drives all serial numbers will be recorded and your hard drives will be destroyed within hours of receipt. At this time the Certificate of Destruction will be completed and sent to the designated party. We keep record of the hold process on file for a minimum of 7 years. It’s that simple!

  • No fees
  • No third party
  • Your data destroyed

USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes are usually the best option for shipping us your hard drives. Generally 12 hard drives can be packed in an 11x8x5 Flat Rate Box and shipped to us from anywhere in the continental USA for $9.80 shipping cost plus Delivery Confirmation. You can fit more in the larger Flat Rate Box for only $12.95 shipping cost. We strongly advise using Delivery Confirmation. This is the only way you can track the package after shipping. Delivery Confirmation is offered to you by the USPS free of charge if you print your Flat Rate shipping label using the USPS online services.

Ship all hard drives to the following address:

Plasma Arc Cutting employs a stream of plasma that can reach temperatures of 28000 oC (50000 oF). It is produced by a constricted electrical arc between an electrode and the work piece (in this case your hard drive). The molten metal is removed by a jet of high speed auxiliary gas provided by the Plasma Arc Cutting head. By this process it is possible to cut at high speed any material conducting electricity.

This process is more energy efficient per unit than large industrial shredders, reducing the gross energy needed to recycle the hard drive base metals, which is approximately 90% aluminum. After destruction, your hard drive base metal will be routed to processing plants to be melted and turned into one of the many products that we use everyday.

Aluminum is one of the easiest base metals to recycle. It is much more energy efficient to recycle aluminum than it is to mine the raw material (bauxite) from the earth. Bauxite is a naturally occurring ore containing aluminum oxide, which takes an enormous amount of energy to refine into useable aluminum. Right now, millions of tons of bauxite are removed from the earth’s surface every year to produce aluminum from its raw form.
